Mission statement:
- to encourage more learners to choose Mathematics in FET phase (gr 10)
- to ensure more learners matriculate with Mathematics as a subject
- to develop each learner to their full potential in Mathematics
The Mathematics advantage:
- more post matric career options
- a sense of personal achievement when passing matric Mathematics
- Mathematics teaches discipline in work ethos and logical thought processes
Involvement:
- In order to achieve, Mathematics learners need determination and motivation
- learners must be prepared to spend many hours practicing in order to get to grips with the concepts
What is offered for the above-average Mathematics learners:
- Advanced Mathematics is now offered to Matric level. The senior teachers are involved with teaching this after-hours. It has tremendous advantages for those learners taking Mathematics in the first year of University. The co-ordinator of these courses is Mr Brits
- The optional Matric Mathematics paper 3 is now offered and is currently being taught in grades 10 and 11. From 2011, it will be taught in grade 12. This is for selected learners only and is not part of the final Mathematics marks. It does however, give learners a distinct advantage at University. Dr Frauenknecht is the co-ordinator of paper 3
